How To Promote Your Online Business – without spending money

Whether you are a newbie or experienced online entrepreneur, promoting your business is essential and not doing so is almost the same as not drinking water after eating. I know it sounds serious but guess what? It is that serious!

In this post, I will show you how we can promote your business without spending money.

Top 3 Reasons Why Marketing Is Essential Part Of Any Business

There was a debate on whether Sales & Marketing are cousins or siblings. I think for now, there is no point in arguing about this topic. The bottom line is that they are ‘related’. They go hand in hand to the point that some companies combined Sales & Marketing as one department. I know some companies who even refer to their Marketing as Sales and vice versa.

Although Sales & Marketing covers different scopes, they overlap in a number of ways.

Marketing also shares the same goals with Sales – they both aimed to increase revenues and get more customers.

Marketing

1) When you market or promote your business, you create awareness.

People would recognize you through your brand and your audience will naturally look for you if you win their hearts. You are building an audience of potential customers who know who you are, what you can give them and where to find you when they need to buy your product or service.

2) Marketing is the key to sell your products or services.

The bottom line of any business is profit. Without customers, your business will not survive. And marketing is the business activity you need to focus on to get customers.

3) Marketing creates value.

The value can be a repeat customer. It could also mean people choosing your product over your competitors.

How To Market Your Online Business – for free

There are many ways you can market or promote your online business. The easiest way is to spend money. You can spend money through advertisements, pay someone to promote your brand for you or simply buy traffic for your site.

However, promoting your business for free is also possible. In fact, this is being encouraged in my top recommended place to start your online business.

  • SEO – You can optimize your website for search engines. You can do this right from the start when you put content.

Search Engine Optimization

  • Social Media – You can take advantage of the power of social media. Promoting your business is just a few clicks away if you really want to.

Social Media

  • Join online communities related to your niche and contribute – when you join an online community, see what you can give instead of what you can get out of them. The online community from where I am part of, uses ‘pay-it-forward’ culture and it’s pretty amazing.
  • Collaborate with people in your niche – when you collaborate with others, you have additional pair of hands to do the work for you. It is also a good way to network with people who share the same interest as yours. As the cliche goes, ‘great minds think alike’.Collaborate

Search Engines: They Should Be Part Of Your Strategy

Getting rankings in the major search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo is a huge boost for your business.

Just imagine the kiosks in the mall. The more they are visible to prospective customers, the better for them and the higher the chances that they will get higher sales.

It’s the same thing with being on Page 1 of Google, Bing and Yahoo. If you are looking for something and you type them in Google for example, you will definitely click anything you see on the first page.

Not unless you are one of the weird people on earth who might scroll all the way down to the 20th page and try to look for an answer there.

There are around 3 billion people searching for something on the internet and whether your audience is just 1% of that number, that still equates to over 30 million. It is mind-blowing.

Now, the next question would be, how do you reach these millions of people? What is your strategy in order to be able to promote your business if you are on a shoestring budget or don’t have any budget at all?

Search Engine Optimization is the best solution.

Organic traffic comes naturally if your business can fill the need of your audience.

Keyword Tools Can Help You Beat Your Competitors

One of the best keyword tools in the industry is Jaaxy. If you want to know more about this powerful tool, you can read my review about Jaaxy here.

If you know what strategies your competitors are doing, you are already ahead of the game.

If you want your website to be on the 1st page of the major search engines (Google, Bing and Yahoo), you need to use the right keyword.

Jaaxy would be your best buddies in all your research activities and you can leverage the many features it offers to online entrepreneurs.

Google Keyword Planner is another free tool you can use to research on the next keyword you can use to make your business visible to more people.

Other keyword tools you can use for free are Keywords Everywhere, Google Trends, Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, Keyword Shitter and Ubersuggest.

Conclusion

You may have created the best product or service in the market but without marketing, you won’t be able to convert your product into a sale. Your potential customers wouldn’t know that you even exist and be able to find out about your product. Without any cash inflows, your business will not survive – not unless you are a charitable institution and you have loads of wealthy contributors.

  1. SEO is important. If you’re not actively implementing it, and only using social media methods to market, then you are literally putting the viability of your business in someone else’s hands. If you lose that social media traffic, then POOF! Business dead in the water.

I like this post because it is definitely great to utilize as many traffic methods as possible, but I agree that SEO needs to be first. I actually personally use Jaaxy as well, and it’s a great keyword research and analytics tool. I really like using the “related” and “alphabet soup” techniques to find new topics and titles.

    • Thank you for stopping by Cris. You hit the nail right on the head regarding SEO. As entrepreneurs, we should be the ones in control of our business and taking advantage of the many benefits SEO can offer us will definitely give us the edge.

It’s good to hear that you love using Jaaxy too. This amazing tool makes our lives a lot easier.

      Cheers,
